About Katie
Katie went on her first trip to the Walt Disney World® resort when she was just two years old, in 1985. While she certainly doesn't remember much from that trip, she does know that it was that first trip that prompted her love of all things Disney. Since that first trip in 1985, Katie has traveled to the Walt Disney World® resort an estimated 30+ times and has taken three Disney Cruises to the Bahamas aboard the Disney Dream in March of 2012, July of 2014, and September of 2016.
Katie began to think about becoming affiliated with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner host travel agency back in 2007 when she decided a career change was in order. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Secondary Education from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois in 2004, Katie was a substitute teacher, a waterpark manager, a patient services representative at a local doctor's office, an early childhood product development assistant, and a customer services representative for a company based in the Netherlands. Needless to say, none of these career choices had challenged Katie to live up to her full potential and use the degree she spent three years of time and lots of money to obtain.
When Katie relocated to a far western "suburb" of Chicago with her parents in 2007, she knew that commuting 45 minutes back farther east would not last for long. Instead of joining a travel agency then, however, she began her first year teaching high school English at a small, rural school just twenty minutes away from her new home.
Fast forward to New Year's Eve 2012. On a weekend getaway to the Wisconsin Dells with her husband and some family and friends, she was reminded just how much she desired to book magical vacations for others just like she had been taking for many years. After all, Katie considers Walt Disney World® her second home for good reason. Katie's cousin reminded her just how much of a "Disney expert" she was and reignited her desire to make a career change that would help her use her expertise in a fun and exciting way.
As a result, Katie hit the web and started looking into "Earmarked" travel agencies that specialized particularly in Disney vacations to apply for. After reading many reviews and applying at a few, Katie finally decided to join Fairytale Journeys as an independent agent affiliated with an agency who is an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner that can book magical Disney vacations that will lay the foundation for many wonderful memories for families near and far.
I look forward to sharing my expertise with my new clients, being challenged by questions I may not know the answer to (but finding the answer nonetheless!) and sharing in the planning process that will create memories to cherish for years to come!
